We do a lot of tutorials on the blog, but we haven’t included much video yet. I’m excited to be launching a new series of very short video tutorials because these will let me talk directly to you about the little tips and tricks I use when I sew.

All of these videos are around a minute long, so they’re quick to watch. And the tips are simple but (I hope) useful. Maybe you already know and use some of them; maybe some will be new to you. Either way, I hope you’ll enjoy them.

We’ll present a new quick sewing tip video each Wednesday for the next couple months. If you find them helpful, useful, or interesting please leave a comment to let me know. If there’s interest in these, we will continue producing them for you.

We kick the series off today with a short and quick tip about tailor’s chalk. I love tailor’s chalk for marking my fabric, especially for transferring markings from the pattern pieces. Here’s a quick tip to show you how to keep the edge of your chalk sharp so you can draw clear lines and make precise markings.
