Australian cotton yields are expected to turn around in 2009

According to the forecast of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this year's Australian unit production is expected to turn around last year's decline to 128.3 kg/mu. Due to high cotton prices, sufficient irrigation water and increased yields, the area of ​​cotton planted in Australia this year is expected to increase. National Australia Bank expects 2010/11 cotton production to be 520,000 tons, an increase of 43.8% year-on-year, the highest in nearly five years. Since 90% of Australian cotton is exported, it is good news for major importing countries in Asia.
